About Our Organization

Maendeleo ya Walemavu Organization (MWO) is a disability-led, non-profit Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities across the Republic of Kenya. Founded in March 2022, the organization is legally incorporated in Kenya and officially recognized by the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
Driven by the principle that every person deserves equal opportunities and dignity, The organization works to promote inclusion, accessibility, empowerment, and the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. Through advocacy, capacity building, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, the organization champions an inclusive society where individuals with diverse abilities can fully participate and thrive.
MWO’s work focuses on advancing disability inclusion, accessible environments, employability and economic empowerment, inclusive education, accessible healthcare, psychosocial wellbeing, climate resilience, and meaningful community participation. By working alongside government institutions, development partners, communities, and persons with disabilities themselves, the organization continues to create sustainable solutions that foster equality, independence, and social transformation.
At Maendeleo ya Walemavu, we believe that disability is not inability. We are committed to building a Kenya where every person, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to live with dignity, realize their full potential, and contribute meaningfully to society.
