Welcome to Maendeleo ya Walemavu Organization, a non- profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities in the Republic of Kenya.
It was founded in March 2022.
Maendeleo ya walemavu works tirelessly to promote inclusion, empowerment and accessibility for individuals with diverse abilities.

Our mission is to advocate for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities, while fostering a society that embraces diversity and equality.
VISION
We envision a world where people with disabilities are fully integrated into all aspects of society, with equal access to opportunities and resources.

We champion inclusivity by creating equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of ability. We empower persons with disabilities to realize their potential and advocate for their rights. Through collaboration with partners and stakeholders, we drive lasting change while treating every individual with dignity, respect, and appreciation for their unique contributions.

Through mobilization of organizations of organizations of persons with disabilities to work together or under national and local umbrella organizations like ourselves
Accessibility Awareness Training.
Collaborate with local institutions, national and international organizations to train their personnel on disability awareness, inclusive messaging and accessibility device donations. We have also incorporated inclusive sports to support psychosocial support of persons with disabilities and police officers with disabilities to aide mental health support groups.

Climate Resilience.
We help push and set up green clubs in schools with special needs education units and include abled pupils to ensure integrated learning and socialization in schools while also mentoring young climate ambassadors. We have also been part of the drive to set up an inclusive nature trail in Oloolua Forest together with Friends of Oloolua Forest and the State department for Irrigation PS, Mr. Ephantus Kimotho, CBS.
OUR SERVICES
Maendeleo ya Walemavu Organization advocates for five key pillars that promote the rights, inclusion, and empowerment of persons living with disabilities. These pillars focus on advancing equal opportunities, accessibility, education and skills development, economic empowerment, and active participation in society, ensuring that no one is left behind in sustainable community development.
Advocacy and Awareness
We champion disability rights through advocacy, public education, community outreach, and awareness campaigns that challenge stigma, influence policy, and promote an inclusive society where every person is valued and respected.
Disability Inclusion Training
We provide disability inclusion training to organizations, institutions, communities, and stakeholders, strengthening understanding, accessibility, reasonable accommodation, and inclusive practices that empower persons with disabilities to participate fully.
Lobbying for Opportunity for Persons with Disability / Employability
We lobby for equal opportunities, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment, connecting persons with disabilities to opportunities while encouraging employers and institutions to embrace inclusive recruitment practices.
Legal Pro-Bono Services
We facilitate access to pro-bono legal services for persons with disabilities, supporting them to understand, protect, and pursue their rights while addressing discrimination, exclusion, and barriers to justice.
Assessment to buildings and organizations that are disability friendly for an award.
We assess buildings, workplaces, institutions, and organizations for disability accessibility and inclusion, recognizing exemplary practices through awards while encouraging stakeholders to improve facilities, services, and environments for everyone.
Climate Resilience and Accessible Health
We empower vulnerable communities, including persons with disabilities, to adapt to climate change through environmental conservation, climate-smart livelihoods, disaster preparedness, and sustainable resource management, building resilience for a safer future.
